Our Mission

We Rise is a peer education and organizing program designed to transform the domestic worker industry.

We Rise formed as a coalition in 2017 to address the injustices in the domestic worker industry. These organizations recognized that domestic work was largely invisibilized and undervalued and that creating a workforce empowerment program supported by a Cornell certificate and channels for organizing, would provide workers with the ability to negotiate for higher wages and launch campaigns to create a more transformative care economy. The coalition developed a peer based, worker-led model for training and base building, with connections to key standards raising campaigns. Since 2017, We Rise has trained over 55 peer trainers speaking 4 languages who have built a base and awarded certificates to over 500 domestic worker leaders and created regenerative healing spaces for an additional 500.
